“Saadesati” written by Vishal Aksh

Preface

(i) It was perhaps some time before December 1989 I came to know about Saade – Saati through different Hindu Calendars with Moon Sign readings or Name Sign readings.

(ii) Year 1990 was perhaps the year in which I understood the judgment of Saade – Saati through several books on Jyotish written in Hindi by various authors perhaps from Meerut and Rajasthan but now I neither have those authors in my memories nor have those books written by them.

(iii) In year 1991 I read a book by Mr. K.S. Krishnamurti the originator of Kp in which he criticized Saade – Saati  on various grounds by allotting auspicious results to it and this made me motivated to check the authenticity of the claim of Mr. K.S. Krishnamurti about Saade – Saati.

Note: All the theories propounded by Mr. K.S. Krishnamurti to design his so called Kp System fail miserably. I admit that as an astrologer he was great but as a researcher and author he was a fob or concealed facts.

(iv) I also saw various Astrologers taking Saade – Saati from Name Sign, Vedic Sun Sign & Ascendant.

Note: In several texts on Vedic Jyotish the first Akshar (Sanskrit or Hindi alphabet) of the name to be given to newly born infant is advised to be based on Vedic Moon sign or the Akshar (Sanskrit or Hindi alphabet) allotted to the Charana of Moon but in most of the cases a large number of person don’t have their First Akshar of Names based on Akshar (Sanskrit or Hindi alphabet) allotted to Moon so in short it can be said that Name Rashi can be same or different from one’s Natal Moon.

Note: The advance researches conducted by me on Ashtakavarga led me to conclude that Saade – Saati should only be considered from Chandra Lagna or Vedic Moon Sign not from Surya Lagna and Lagna (Sidereal Vedic Ascendant)

(v) The Name Sign is very easy to calculate if you know one’s Name existing in official records. I saw most of the people running under Saade – Saati across their Name Signs were suffering on account of Physical & Mental Health, Wealth and profession and still I saw most of people. My long experiences in the field of Vedic Jyotish lead me to conclude that under specific conditions Saade – Saati can also be considered through Name Signs. This Article is not on Name Signs so in future an Article will be written in this context.

(vi) Saade – Saati was found valid in my long experience of about three decades in the field of Vedic Jyotish but I did not find the term Saade – Saati written in any ancient text based on Vedic Jyotish and this made me surprised but in Chapter: 21 of the Book titling “My Experiences In Astrology” written by the legendry Dr. B.V. Raman while narrating his trip to North India Dr. B.V. Raman writes an episode in which he gets valuable knowledge about the functioning of Saade – Saati  in terms of giving good as well as bad results from a Sadhu in Hardwar and that proved true in the experiences of Dr. B.V. Raman. In modern era Dr. B.V. Raman is only the authority of Vedic Jyotish so the concept of Saade – Saati can be said to be a Vedic origin.

(vii) It was within Year 1991 to Year 1992 while studying Phaldeepika a great text on Vedic Jyotish through self efforts I saw bad results attributed to Saturn’s Transit in 12th from Moon results in wealth loss on account of the actions of foes, over natal Moon as diseases (Nature of diseases not specified so it may be Physical, mental or transmitted etc) and transiting 2nd from Natal Moon Saturn results in loss of wealth in other words the entire 7.5 years described as adverse years.

(ix) The term Saade – Saati is a Hindi term and nowhere its original Sanskrit term is mentioned so in the absence of authentic Sanskrit sources describing its Title in Sanskrit at present it is absolutely impossible to write about the Title Saade – Saati

(x) It was from Year 2008 and onwards the existences of Saturn’s transitory phase across Moon were found in Bhavishya Purana in an indirect form and in Shanivajrapanjar Strotra of Brhamand Purana in a direct form.

(xi) There are some जनश्रुतियाँ (Janshrutian or folklores) about the Saade – Saati and although they have no basis, they explain Saade – Saati well as its predictive values are concerned.

(xii) In this Article several already written Articles concerning Saade – Saati by me on various social sites also included for a clear understanding about Saade – Saati

(xiii) I hope this Article written by me will prove insightful for all the learner and researchers of Vedic Jyotish and also prove delightful for experts.

(xiv) The terms written in this Article as Saadesati, Saade – Saati or Saade Saati  where ever you find are written for Saadesati.

Chapter (I)

The Origin Of Saade – Saati

There is a great episode in Bhavishya Purana which explains Saade – Saati and its remedies and that episode is also given for your benefits in forthcoming subparagraphs:

(i) Lord Surya had a consort named Sangya and from Sangya he had three children named Vaivast Manu, Yama and Yamuna. Because of the extreme light of Surya his consort Sangya was not able to live with him more and she left him by leaving his Chhaya (Image) behind her. Chhaya started to act like Sangya in her absence so from Chhaya the three children of Surya were Savarni Manu, Shani (Saturn) and Tapti. Because of the passing of time lord Surya observed uneven behavior of Chhaya towards all the children as her behavior towards Savarni Manu, Shani (Saturn) and Tapti was positive and towards Vaivast Manu, Yama and Yamuna was negative this led lord Surya to conclude that she was a form of Maya who was of the shape and size of his consort Sangya and then lord Surya ended the Chhaya. This created the differences between Chhaya’s sons (Savarni Manu & Shani) and Surya as both of them blamed their father Surya to vanish their mother Chhaya. In a battle both the sons of Chhaya got defeated by Surya. After that defeat both Savarni Manu & Shani went to Himalaya and did Tapasya to appease Mahakali.

(ii) It took three years for them to appease Mahakali through Tapasya then goddess Mahakali appeared and she blessed both of them. After getting of Mahakali’s blessings Savarni Manu & Shani started fighting with lord Surya and this time lord Surya got defeat and then lord Surya left the battle and went away.

(iii) In the delightful region of Kurukhand Sangya the consort of Surya was doing Tapasya in the form of Vadya (Ashwa or Mare) to get her husband Surya back and when lord Surya reached near here he saw his consort Sangya in the form of mare and then lord Surya transformed himself in to the form of a Ashw (Horse) and he lived with that Vadya (Ashwa) in that form of Ashw (Horse) for five years. The twines jointly known as Ashwanikumara were born to them. Ashwanikumara after knowing the pains of their father Surya situated themselves in sky and there both of them defeated Savarni Manu & Shani and then defeated Savarni Manu & Shani were put before lord Surya and then lord Surya made them पङ्गु (Pangu or Handicapped) by striking them with an iron rod.

(iv) Lord Surya was very much pleased and he also gave boon to both the Ashwanikumara that the elder Aswanikumara will get Idadevi the real power of Moon as his consort whereas the younger Ashwanikumar will get Pingala the real power of Surya as his consort and whenever Shani (Saturn) in its transit comes to 12th Sign from one’s Rashi (Vedic Moon Sign) then the worship of Idapati (Elder Ashwanikumara) will prove fruitful, whenever Savarni Manu transits 2nd Sign from one’s Moon Sign then the worship of Pinglapati (Younger Ashwanikumara) proves fruitful and whenever Devi Tapanti (Tapti) transits one’s Rashi (Vedic Moon Sign) the Idaa & Pingla will prove as strong remedy.
Note: Since there are no Planets or Upagraha like Sarvani Manu & Devi Tapanti (Tapti) so there transits become out of question but it is written in Bhavishya Purana which has a Vedic base. Keeping this in view the interpretation in this context can be given as the transit of 2nd Sign from one’s Rashi (Vedic Moon Sign) is known as Savarni Manu and that in Chandra Lagna(Vedic Moon Sign) as Tapti and thus the concept of Saadesati emerges. One thing is clear Idaa and Pingla are the chief Nadi in Yoga so whenever Saturn transits the Rashi (Vedic Moon Sign) the practicing of Lomaa Viloma  Pranayama is the strong Remedy and there is no harm if that can be also practiced throughout the period of Saadesati. But how to worship Idapati & Pinglapati to be taken as remedy for 12th and 2nd Rashi (Vedic Moon Sign) transits of Shani (Saturn) is not clearly given in Bhavishya Purana.

(v) After getting boons from their father Surya both of the Ashwanikumara became Devavaidya (Divine Doctors or Doctors of Devtas)
Note: It is within my experiences of thirty years in the field of Vedic Jyotish that medical treatments performed in case any death inflecting diseases appears in the period of Saadesaati prove effective and beneficial.

(vi) From the other Ansha (Parts) of Savarni Manu and Shani the evolution of Rahu & Ketu took place and as written earlier that scared Surya from them escaped so their Evolutions Rahu & Ketu also become cause to give him pains in the form of Solar Eclipse and the emergence of both of the Ashwanikumara was happened to pacify Shani (Saturn), Savarni Manu, Rahu & Ketu and the worship of both of the Ashwanikumara remove the ill effects of Saturn, Rahu & Ketu.
Note: This is very different legend about the emergence of Rahu & Ketu given in Bhavishya Puran but the emergence of Rahu from Shani (Saturn) given in the legend witnesses the dictum Shanivad Rahu.

Note: Every Mantra Japa of Vedas is followed by a Yajya so if the Vedic Mantra of Ashwanikumara is recited then a Yagaya is to be performed as a fundamental duty. There are several who erroneoussly believe that both of the Awanikumara have no right to accept the donations and Samidha of the Yagya but in Bhavishya Purana it is clearly mentioned that they too can accept the donations and Samidha and their shares in Yagya because the Vedic Muni Chavan’s pressurized Devraj Indra to accept both of the Ashwanikumara as Devta by allotting them the donations & samidhas in a Yagya. The following is the powerful Vedic Mantra to appease Ashwanikumara:

ॐ अश्विना तेजसा चक्षुः प्राणेन सरस्वती वीर्यम्। वाचेन्द्रो बलेन्द्राय दधुरिन्द्रियम्। ओं अश्विभ्यां नमः
[Om Ashvina Chakshuh Praanen Sarsvati Viryam! Vachendro Balendraay Dadhuriindriyam! Om Ashvibhyaam Namah]

(vii) In शनिवज्रपञ्जर स्तोत्र (Shanivajrapanjara Stotra) given in ब्रह्माण्डपुराण (Brhamandapurana) it is written that whenever Shani (Saturn) transits व्ययजन्मद्वितीयस्थो (Vayjanamdwitistho, 12th, 1st & 2nd ) Signs from one’s Janamrashi (Vedic Lunar Sign) or in an adverse place (i.e.4th  or 10th from one’s Janamrashi) or 7th Sign from one’s Janamrashi or 8th Sign from one’s Janamrashi then all the evil effects arising from these transits turns into auspicious effects with the blessings of Shani (Saturn) whenever the शनिवज्रपञ्जर स्तोत्र (Shanivajrapanjara Stotra) is recited and the person even gets the neutralization of all the evil effects arising out if Saturn occupies his Ascendant in his Natal Horoscope. The following is that concerned Sanskrit Shloka:

व्ययजन्मद्वितीयस्थो दुष्टस्थितिगतोपि वा।
कलत्रस्थो गतो वापि सुप्रीतस्थो सदा शनिः॥
अष्टमस्थे सूर्यसुते न पीडा जायते क्वचित्।
इत्येतत्कवचं दिव्यं सौरेर् यन्निर्मितं पुरा॥
जन्मलग्नगतान् दोषान् सर्वान्नाश्यते प्रभुः॥
[Vayjanamdwitistho Dusthsthitigatopi vaa!
Kalatrstho Gato Vaapi Sopreetstho Sadaa Shani!!
Ashtmasthe Suryasute Nae Peeda Jaayte Kvachit!
Ityetetkavcham Divyam Sorer Ynnimitam Puraa!!
Janamlagangataan Doshaan Sarvannaashyte Prabhu!!]

(viii) In Vedic Jyotish the Sanskrit wordings व्ययजन्मद्वितीयस्थो (Vayjanamdwitistho) or the Transiting Saturn from 12th, 1st & 2nd from one’s Janamrashi (Natal Vedic Moon Sign) is known as Saadesati in modern times so it is not a new concept as it is already given in वैदिक पुराण (Vedic Purana).

“Some Other Facts About Sade - Saati” – an article written by Vishal Aksh

(i) You cannot form definite rule on account of benefice disposition of Saturn for particular signs such as Tula, Vrish, Makar & Kumbh in the period of Sade Sati. People with these signs are also found the greatest sufferers under the phase of Saadesati. People with Vrischika, Dhanu and Mesh rashi also found to enjoy prosperity under the phase of Sade Sati. Years before I read someone's research about Saadesatiand according to that person Saadesatiis harmful to people having there Moon in fiery signs like Mesh, Simh & Dhanur. I also found it true in a number of horoscopes but also found the exceptions and rules giving these exceptions.
Note: For Tula & Vrish Lagna Saturn becomes the best Yogakarka Planet so several Astrologers opine that in Saadesati to Vrish and Tula Rashi Saturn according to them give good results.

(ii) Application of Ashtaka Varga is brilliant scheme to delineate the effects of Saadesatibut not in a way as written in modern books and for that the real meaning of Ashtaka Varga needs to be understood and this will be discussed in the forthcoming Chapter (III) of this Article.

(iii) I have heard some astrologers apply the concept of Saadesati to divisional charts but I do not think it is right approach but I suggest the application of transit of Saturn over the positions of Moon in divisional charts and it should also be judge precisely in Bhansh (D27) chart. But on the other hand positions of Moon in divisional charts are of great help in analyzing the effects of Saadesati over one's natal Moon.
Note: Several Astrologers are of opinion that Saadesati is to be judged with respect to the position of Moon in various Divisional Charts. For example if Moon occupies Mesh Rashi in Dashmansh Chart then whenever Saturn transits Meen Rashi the Saadesati so operated for Mesh Rashi affects the profession adversely and so on for other Divisional Charts but this did not come true in my experience of about thirty years in the field of Vedic Jyotish.
Note: Bhansh Chart (D27) indicates Strength & Weakness and Moon indicates Mana (Mind) & Mood so its position in Bhansh Chart also indicates Mental Strength so if it influences Bhansh Lagna or 3rd house in Bhansh Chart (D27) then Saturn will affect the Mental Strength adversely in its Saadesati.

(iv) Some astrologers also recommend the commencement of Saadesati 45⁰ before the DMS of Moon to 45⁰ ahead of the DMS of Moon in one's horoscope but I have found this Saadesati giving its effect as its usual commencement i.e. one sign before the position of Moon in one's horoscope.

“The Considerations Of Saadesati” – an article written by Vishal Aksh

(i) In year 1991, I was on the way of understanding Vedic astrology by self efforts but any how I was able to cast any horoscope with Rashi Chart, Chalit Chakra, Shodashvarga, Shadabala, Ashtakavarga, Annual horoscopes, Horary horoscope & Vinshottri dasha along with yogini dasha. At that time it took a fortnight to cast such detailed horoscope but I used to cast and predict. Some of my predictions given to various people & friends came into being in that year and that gave me enough confidence to understand Vedic Jyotisha. Here I would like to advice to every learner of Vedic astrology that he should try to construct horoscope with his own efforts by keeping him away from computerized horoscopes unless he gets enough confidence to cast any horoscope and it will help him to understand the predictive side of Vedic astrology.

(ii) At that time Saadesati was supposed to be a curse in Vedic astrology and in several magazines based on Vedic astrology I used to read the various views about it by different astrologers & authors. According Dr. B. V. Raman the consideration of Saadesati should be from Moon sign or Chander Lagna and I found it working in several cases. Some authors were of the views that the consideration of Saadesati should be from Ascendant or Lagna but I found that in most of the cases the transit of Saturn through Lagna found to give auspicious results and proved milestone so this idea of the consideration of Saadesati from Ascendant never convinced me. Some Vedic Sun sign Readers were of the opinion that this Saadesati should be considered from Vedic Sun sign or Surya Lagna and in several cases I saw it working specially when Saturn transited Surya Lagna but there were several exceptions too and then I found people doing mantra japa regularly got glorious results during that transit of Saturn through Surya Lagna so at that time I concluded that Saadesati should be considered from Moon sign or Chandera Lagna. The cycle of Moon displays its phases and affects the human beings at their various phases of life so Saadesati should always be considered from Moon sign or Chandra Lagna and thus I understood the working of Saadesati in this way.

(iii) In that year 1991 I saw several exceptions of working of Saadesatiin several cases too and this led me to conclude that the basis of Saadesatiis transit and it would be better to understand the true concept about transit or Gochara. Then I started paying more attention to transits and many times it looked easy and many times it became tough to understand it properly.

(iv) In year 1991 when I saw that in Brihit Prashara Hora Shaastra & Brihit Jataka that scheme of Gochara was not mentioned It gave me surprise but I found that technique of Vedic transit (Gochara) well described in Phaladeepika. In Phaladeepika the auspicious results of transits of planets are described as given below in the Table:

(v) At that time I often used to think about the basis of transit given in Phaladeepika and why this type of popular transit scheme did not find place in Brihit Prashara Hora Shaastra & Brihit Jataka? This further enhanced my curiosity and then it became necessary for me (1) To find the basis of the transit given in Phaladeepika as shown in above Table. (2) To find the Lagna out of Lagna, Chandera Lagna or Surya Lagna suitable for the consideration of Saadesati from that base used in Phaladeepika to describe transits of planets.

(vi) Manteshwara in his great work Phaladeeepika, praised Vedic muni Parashara and his works and that clearly meant that Manteshwara developed this system of transit of planets from the works of Parashara i.e Brihit Prashara Hora Shaastra. I was very much sure that the basis of transit as given in Phaladeepika must have its roots in Brihit Parashara Hora Shaastra.

(vii) In year 1992 or so a thought appeared in my mind that It is Ashtakavarga which is much praised in various texts on Vedic Jyotisha and it is also used in Brihit Prashara Hora Shaastra to judge the transit results of Planets & also described in Brihit Jataka and I should relate Gochara scheme given in Phaladeepika with Ashtakavarga scheme as given in Brihit Parashar Hora Shaastra.

(viii) I then took Ashtakavarga of Various planets and tabulated them and when these tables of various Ashtakavargas of planets were prepared I glanced at those tables then I saw in the Ashtakavarga of every Planet the contributions of auspicious points from Moon to various houses counting from it and I got the missing link. The following tables are used to construct the Ashtakavarga of any horoscope:

(ix) I saw the horizontal line headed by Moon in every Ashtaka Varga table of planets were same and in agreement with the auspicious Gochar places of Planets from any Lunar sign or Chandera Lagna as described by Manteshwara in Phaladeepika and that showed the root of Gochar places allotted to various planets from Lunar sign existing in Brihit Prashar Hora Shaastra and thus I found the basis of transit of Planets from Lunar sign or Chandra Lagna.

(x) Everyone can see the red horizontal lines each & every Ashtakavarga headed by Moon and compare it with the various auspicious places of Planets from the Chandera Lagna of any horoscope given in the Table of Transit.

(xi) In Saturn’s Ashtakavarga the Sun’s auspicious lines indicates another fact that Saturn transiting 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 10th & 11th from ones natal Sun gives auspicious results (See the Dark Blue Lines in Saturn’s Ashtakvarga). This means Saturn transiting from 1st from one’s natal Sun give good and auspicious results and this means it is not good to consider Saade saati from Sun sign or Surya Lagna. Though Saturn Transiting over one’s natal Sun in actual practice give hurdles and tensions but Sun being the planet signifying Aatma so here spiritual remedies works to obtain the auspicious results of the Saturn transiting one’s natal Sun.

(xii) In Saturn’s Ashtakvarga the Lagna’s auspicious lines indicates that  the transiting Saturn is found to give benefic results in 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 10th, & 11th from Lagna (See the purple lines in Saturn’s Ashtakavarga). Here one thing is important to be noted that while transiting Lagna Saturn appears to give benefic results and if Saadesati is to be considered from Lagna then this place should not be benefic place for transiting Saturn as per Ashtaka Varga rules. Thus Saadesati cannot be considered from Lagna.

(xiii) The foregoing reasoning on the basis of Ashtakavarga given in this chapter of this Article clearly indicate that Saadesati should be considered from Rashi (Vedic Moon Sign)

(xiv) This Chapter (III) of this Article is a part of an Article originally written by me titling “Wonders Of Ashtakavarga” published on my website. “Some Tips On Saade – Saati” – an article written by Vishal Aksh

(i) No one can design fixed rules to delineate the results of Saadesati.
(ii) Basically Saadesati is the action of Tamsik Planet Saturn ruling sorrows, feeling of guilt, depression and darkness on the Moon which is the extremely active(here Kriyavaan not Chetan) and abstract (here mana or mind?) agency ruling the senses so it has nothing to do with specific zodiacal sign even ruled by Saturn itself.
(iii) An unhealthy mind (action of Saade – Saati on Moon) cannot take proper decisions and ultimate it affects the body as a whole. That is what Saade – Saati reflects.
(iv) In any horoscope judge the weaknesses coming out of the Moon on account of its position, ownership and the aspects falling on it and you get those weaknesses in enhanced form in the phase of Saade – Saati.
(iv) Always remember Saade – Saati never disregards the manifestation of any Dhana Yoga, Raj Yoga or any other auspicious yoga if that is found active under the phase of Saade – Saati.

(i) If you are judging your client's horoscope and you find the phase of Saade - Saati going on in his horoscope
(II) You predict that within Saade - Saati these adverse events are 'Likely To Occur' if you know how to read Rashi Chart.
(III) Under similar conditions you predict within
Saade - Saati these adverse events will 'Occur' if you know how to use Divisional Charts in predicting the events.
(iv) For the benefits of all of you I am providing a part of my researches on Saadesati: If in one’s Trishansh chart Moon is found in 1st, 6th, 7th, 8th or 12th house then that person suffers on account of diseases, accidents and other miseries during the period of Sade-Sati.

Chapter (VI)

“What is Sade-Sati?” – an article written by Vishal Aksh

In this chapter Sade-Sati is explained: -

This is the most controversial thing among the astrologers and common people of India following Vedic system of astrology.

A big question mark appears before Sade-Sati. Some learned are of the view that sade-sati is like a curse and predicting any good within this period is not advisable. Other learned are of the opinion that sade-sati is effect less. The common people who follow the astrological path get confused by these two prevailing views about sade-sati.

In my experience of many years in the field of astrology I have found sade-sati both effective & less effective. It is very difficult for an amateur astrologer to predict on the basis of sade-sati in advance.

But on the contrary when a sufferer comes and astrologer finds the phase of sade-sati working then he immediately injects the fear of sade-sati and thereby making him weaker & weaker. Instead of vaccinating so many remedies are prescribed and the poor person apart of following them gets punctured.

On the other hand a Sade-Sati sufferer appears before a research minded astrologer. He at once makes him fearless by saying sade-sati is effect less. So be sure nothing is going to be adverse. Both dasha & antar dasha are good and transit of Jupiter is favorable. So rest assured. But unfortunately in 3 to 6 months the person becomes bankrupt, meets with an accident and his entire business comes to standstill.

In above mentioned one case the person becomes mentally punctured and in second case the result needs not to be mentioned. In either case it was the person who suffered on account of astrologers in the phase of sade-sati.

Now a big question further arises how does a common person estimate that he should approach to a good astrologer in the phase of sade-sati?

Before that it will be better to understand the logic behind sade-sati. The sade-sati is nothing but the transit of Saturn from 12th, 1st & 2nd houses from one’s rashi. Saturn roughly takes 2.5 years to transit a rashi. In sade-sati it will take 2.5 × 3=7.5 years to transit these three consecutive signs there by it is known as Saade - Saati.

In Vedic Jyotish Moon is treated as water and presides over मन (Mana= Mind?). In other words there is astrological relationship between मन (Mana) & जल (Water). To make it more clear look at still water pond and simultaneously feel the मन (Mana). In still water pond a small air current creates disturbances in water. In water pond whether it is a small air current or something falling into the water pond result in the disturbances in the surface of water. Just like water pond filled with water the मन (Mana) is filled with emotions & desires.

So, any negative or positive feeling, affect the मन (Mana). Hence the मन (Mana) is a pond of emotions & desires. Thus astrologically water pond model fits Moon.

Following this rule, in astrology, the transit of every planet except Moon & Venus on one’s Moon sign is treated as inauspicious and results in emotional disturbances & non fulfillment of one’s desires. Moon & Venus are supposed to be watery planets and water easily mixes with water hence transit of Moon & Venus over Moon sign is considered as auspicious.

Further all planets transiting 12th sign from one’s Moon sign give inauspicious results except Venus. All the benefices like Jupiter, Venus & Mercury except Moon give good results and all the malefic like Saturn, Mars & Sun give bad results while transiting 2nd sign from one’s Moon sign.

It is clear from above, that malefic planets, such as Saturn, Mars & Sun while transiting through 12th, 1st & 2nd signs from one’s Moon sign give adverse results. Among the malefic planets Sun transits a sign in 30 days, Mars in 45 days & Saturn in 2.5 year.

Sun takes 30 × 3=90 days to transit three consecutive sign, Mars takes 45 × 3= 135 days and Saturn takes 2.5 × 3 = 7.5 years to transit three consecutive signs.

The total time taken by Sun to transit three consecutive signs is very less i.e. only 90 days and that of Mars is 135 days which is less than half a year. Here comes what is known as will power of a person. This is the will power which strengthens the मन (Mana) in astrological terms this will power strengthens the Moon.
The transit of Mars & Sun is not strong enough to disturb one’s will power & psychology and thus astrologically there is no damage to the strength of Moon.

On the other hand 7.5 years of the transit of Saturn i.e. sade-sati badly affects the emotions & psychology of a person and there by punctures the one’s will power there by crushes one’s desires.

By nature Saturn is तामसिक (Tamsik). It imparts its तामसिक (Tamsik) nature to Moon in its Saade - Saati thus making one’s मन (Mana) totally तामसिक (Tamsik) and with this result negative feelings start evolving. The stability of मन collapses and because of this there is total inability to take full use of one’s intelligence. Thus within this period one’s major decisions of life prove fruitless.

Within Sade-Sati one’s power of judgment also crushes and thus the intellect to decide good or bad and right or wrong becomes inactive.

Then this worried, confused & unhealthy मन (Mana) affects one’s health and sometimes one’s prosperity. But if the Moon (मन, Mana) is strong then sade-sati does not affect the मन (Mana) much and thus there is saving of one’s physical and mental health along with one’s prosperity up to a great extent. That is why earlier I have written sade-sati is either effective or less effective. Affectless Saade - Saati is a rare phenomenon.

Let me explain the working of sade-sati from an old and well known story. Here I would like to write this story in brief as to make this very clear: -

Once upon a time in a jungle there lived two animals one was a rabbit and another tortoise. They never liked each other and tried their best to defame other one. Once for becoming superior both of them decided to have a race and the winner would be declared as superior.

A race was started between them. The rabbit was fast runner and that of tortoise a slow runner. The rabbit ran very fast and tortoise was slowly chasing him. After some time, rabbit was miles away from tortoise. Here is the first stage of this story where rabbit was being chased by tortoise in a race.

After going far away rabbit suddenly stopped and moved back and there was no tortoise but here only he knew that he was being chased by that tortoise. The rabbit started thinking that he had almost won the race and some formalities are still there to make him final winner. He thought it would be very good to have a rest till the arrival of tortoise and as soon as tortoise would arrive there he will again run very fast and in that way he would make tortoise further depressed. Finally rabbit took a rest under a tree situated nearby. Because of his confidence his ego touched the hike and with this effect he slept under that tree. After a long time interval the tortoise approached him and he saw the rabbit sleeping under that tree. That tortoise slowly moves ahead. The tortoise approaching the sleeping rabbit slowly is the second stage of this story.

Now the entire scene was changed the tortoise was miles away from the sleeping rabbit. When rabbit wake up he saw footprints of that tortoise nearby. He at once ran very fast and in entire he saw nothing but the footprints of that tortoise. The slow runner tortoise won the race. The slow runner tortoise became invisible to the eyes of that rabbit by leaving him behind and thus creating his own victory. It is the third stage of this story.

Perhaps everyone knows this story. If this story is judged astrologically then it wonderfully shows the working of Saade - Saati. According to Vedic Jyotish Moon presides over rabbit and Saturn presides over tortoise. In entire three stage of this story rabbit was found sleeping showing the position of radical Moon in one’s horoscope. In first stage tortoise’s chase towards sleeping rabbit shows the 12th house transit of Saturn from one’s radical Moon.
